Chesser Island Winery
Chesser Island Winery
It may be far from hog butchering and syrup grinding but the Chessers thought of a winery as a good family business. The Cheer Island Winery is not really located at Chesser Island. It can be found at Folkston or the Gateway to the locals. The winery was opened for business just recently, in 2005. To sum it up, the Cheer Island Winery is all about handcrafted sparkling wines done through the classic “methode champenoise” manner and still wines from Georgia grown fruits. As of the moment, Chesser Island Winery has four sparkling wines and three still wines.
Although the wine tastes heavenly it is not the only reason why Chesser Island Winery is thriving. True to their slogan, the business is indeed “telling story through wine.”
How did the company managed to tell stories through wine? Apparently, every wine variety created by the winery shares a tale about Chesser Island and Okefenokee Swamp on its label. Also present on the label is a sketch of the Chesser Island Homestead.
Cheers to the minds behind the Chesser Island Winery! We could not think of a better way to pay tribute to Tom and Iva Chesser who made Chesser Island more than just a place but a legacy.
